It will work for all future carts. To migrate old cart numbers into a series of numbers that match your new group is either export and re import or play with mysql Yes it's tidy to have all the numbers in a group match the group criteria but for me the effort is not worth it, the only thing that uses the cart numbers is the computer and it's not that fussed!
