Usually happens when you have dropboxes setup. I moved my drop boxes
off to a server for the imports but having said that if I remember
correctly the computer will shut down if you just leave it a few seconds
without clicking anything.
Its possibly distribution specific but Debian certainly kills them even
after moaning a bit.
