Yes, I agree. When I say "transparent", maybe it's a bit exaggerated.
Our compression for /var/snd storage is MPEG2, so there is some
advantage in terms of needed bandwidth.
True, we only have a customer-grade broadband ADSL connection, and if
several users access the Rivendell network over VPN, it will become very
quickly completely unusable.
But if a user choses not to mount /var/snd, a lot of operations are
still doable, like remotely (and visually) setting cut markers, etc.
