I tried the version 2.1.2 on a test machine and had problems getting it
to recognize my ASI6044 card. So I reverted to the Paravel 1.0.0
version, which worked perfectly with the ASI6044 card out of the box.
Another distribution to consider if you are going to try and "get by"
with the sound card built onto the motherboard is the Ubuntu 10.04 based
RRAbuntu (http://rrabuntu.sorceforge.net) This one came right up with a
test log installed. It would not work with the AudioScience card
without installing the drivers.

The Appliance offered on Paravel's site claims to be version 1.0.0 (not sure
how that correlates to the Rivendell version within). I know there are
third-party releases as well, but I don't have a grasp on what's what.
For my boxes, I've normally built Rivendell from source on top of whatever
version of SuSE was current. But this is for a prospective new user, so I want
to put them on the best possible (most hassle-free) path.
