Only main difference is mysql which is 5.5 on all the slow distros but we
played with my.cnf and it did work a bit
Faster but still not up to speck. We did try installing 5.1 but its not
available for 12.04 and above although we converted the 5.1 rpm to a deb file
it would not work on our test machine.  Perhaps Fred can come up with some
pointers as I am sure its a mysql fault as if you use a 10.04 host with 5.1sql
and  12.04 clients it almost works up to speed.

So, can anyone figure out hints for our Logedit issue?

I be honest we have not tried with suse or centos for a long time  as we
are fine with deb distros and they have always seemed more stable as far
as RD goes and since Suse changed a fair bit we moved away from suse a
couple of years ago.
