As I am a beginner too, this is probably NOT the reason, but thought I would pass it along:

Back when I was testing the Rivendell Appliance V1 CD, I ran into an issue where it would only schedule one song per hour.

Even though in the guide it is shown as an example, I found the problem was a "-" in either the hostname or service name (I can't remember which). I had the servicename something like "wxyz-fm". I submitted a bug report when the mantis was online, but don't know if that ever got fixed.

Like I said, that probably is not your issue, but it sounded familiar so thought I would throw in my half a cent worth.

As for the artist sep rules, it is my understanding that even if it has to break a rule, it will put SOMETHING in the spot, even if its not what you intended.'

Ok, I know, beginner's questions are abounding but I'll get it there
soon enough. I finally have all of my music loaded and markers set.
I'm now running the machine as a test for a week or so before
implementing it in the air stream. I went to generate a log (as I've
done before) and followed the Brett's Blog instructions. When I go to
create it, it returns the following report:

Rivendell Log Exception Report
Generated at: 03/11/2014 - 18:20:14
Log: WRNRadio-0311
Effective Airdate: 03/11/2014

0 exceptions found.

00:00:30 Rule broken: Artist Separation
01:00:30 Rule broken: Artist Separation
02:00:30 Rule broken: Artist Separation...

And repeats this for every hour for the 24 hr period. I've set 240
and 180 as separation requirements. I can attest that I have enough
music and artists to meet the separation requirements. If I load the
log that it creates, it loads the Legal ID and half hour weather but
no music carts whatsoever.
If I reduce the separation (I did 10 & 90 minutes for trial), it
simply returns the "No Exceptions Found" window. Any insight would be
GREATLY appreciated!
