Hi,

first some info regarding my system.

I installed the latest Rivendell Appliance DVD without problems. The only
issue was to make sure the name of the log does not contain a minus-sign
(which prevents LogManager from creating logs because of mySQL throwing an
error).

I'm using a Phonic Firefly 808 U Audio Interface. This gives me 8
symmetrical analogue outputs in a nice external 19" box. Mind the "U" in the
model name, it stands for "Universal" and provides connectivity for USB 2.0
and Firewire. I use the USB-Connection.

The device shows up in Alsa, no problem to configure multiple stereo outputs
for usage in RDAirplay.

Now the only problem I have so far is, that the audio output levels are
quite low. Running alsamixer does not show me the output channels. It only
shows a control named "Clock Selector", which lets me choose between USB,
SPDIF, external.

My asound.conf looks pretty straight, I made no changes so far:

pcm.rd0 {

  type hw

  card 0

  device 0

}

ctl.rd0{

  type hw

  card 0

}

Is there a simple way to adjust output levels, maybe directly in
asound.conf?

As far as I can see Jack is not involved in my setup, but I can't figure out
what this pulseaudio thing is all about and whether I need it or not.
Everything works smooth, just need higher levels.

Regards,

Alex
