My 64-bit machines arrived yesterday and I've been trying to install RD from the latest DVD appliance.

Am I sopose to install Gnome or KDE? I tried KDE but I get no sound, no 3D graphics or no GUI for add/removing and updating software. Keeping in mind I come from Suse and Yast from the Rivendell RPM days.

I also couldn't see Rivendell or a service manager anywhere logged in as 'rd' user. When I logged in as root I could get in to the service manager however even enabling the RD service and going back to the 'rd' account there was still no cards/ports via RDAdmin, even though in RDAlsoConfig it showed the card.

If I install Gnome sound works and software updates come with a GUI which is easy enough to figure out how to update RD. So I'm guessing KDE is not the answer when installing the appliance?

I have a 160GB drive, so I had to choose custom install. I got stuck on the parition screen and it kept saying the partition "/" was already in use when trying to create one. I clicked on the drive and tried to delete paritions but that didn't work either as there was none. It was 30 miuntes later that I realised I had to hit the reset button on the parition screen before it would let me create new partitions correctly. For some reason going to the parition setup screen doesn't load the paritions to display by default, just the drive. This was a bit frustrating from a first time appliance install aspect.

Everything else went pretty well except I can't use KDE because the above didn't work once installed. Is there no package installer GUI for KDE in CentOS6?

Cheers,
Gavin.
