Well, I'll offer my $0.02 here... Personally I prefer the email list to a forum, I probably would stick with the email list and not use a forum.
I prefer to keep stuff in email, it is easier for me that way, and I have found that everyone on this list has been very helpful in resolving any issues that I have. I've also helped out whenever I can. It is also relatively easy to search when I need to do so. I know that the forums that I've got logins for I don't use all that much in comparison. To go from something that I read and find some useful bit of information on almost daily to something that I would likely only visit once a month seems like a step backwards for me.
