Hi,

Just to reinforce the comment above, I have seen this same behaviour on
those so-called "green" hard drives from WD and Seagate.  Generally when
I've seen it the difficulty has been on Windows machines, however it can
also happen on Linux - even on a non-failing drive.  As a result I
generally avoid using the green drives (but of course I run into people
who have bought them and then gone on to wonder why their computer
freezes up every so often during disk activity)
