We operate a station with multiple studios and many DJs. We want to create
one set of sound panels to be used across our network. Rivendell currently
has two types of sound panels, neither of which serve our needs. User
panels appear on multiple machines but the user can edit them (we want to
keep that privilege locked up). The other type of panel is inconsistently
referred to as system panels and host panels. RDAdmin/hosts/RDAirplay
allows the number of "host" panels to be set but they are labelled "[S:1]"
in RDAirplay itself. Host is far more accurate: they are local to, well,
the host.
I propose a third category, global, that can be seen by all users by edited
only by admins. There would be another dropdown in RDAdmin and if you were
an admin you could edit them and their names just like a normal panel.
Automation update of the panels (without closing RDAirplay) would be great,
but it's a separate issue. Also, the TYPE in PANELS is an Int. It's begging
to be an ENUM('H', 'U', 'G').
Thanks,
