Bolt in a network card from a junk box, the older the better.
Centos will find it. Configure.
Use this to connect.
Download centos update, which finds the drivers for the card you have on board 
and sets it up.
Configure on board card as required.
Shutdown;unbolt temporary junk box card and save.
Restart

Centos is light on drivers in the install CD/DVD in 5 & 6 and the Rivendell 
Appliance reflects this.

Had me confused because that other OS has no problem.
