My experience with Rivendell so far has been quite bumpy. I installed the
Broadcast Appliance (v2) and never quite got everything working, thanks to
what I later discovered was a defective card from ASI.

Next, I tried Ubuntu, and with the help of ASI engineers, had everything
(mostly) functional. The drivers were still somewhat confused, as the
system would recognize the audio card but Rivendell refused to play out
audio.

Now I'm back trying the Appliance for round three and encountering display
driver issues on v2, which is why I was hoping for a CentOS v7 variant --
which doesn't seem to have this issue.

I can install CentOS 7 without issues, but I haven't tried installing audio
drivers, etc on top of the base system. Maybe that's the next step.

I should also add that I really liked the look and feel of Ubuntu, but the
setup was such a pain -- taking days to get even close to right. If the
Appliance box (beta or not) is based on a modern variant of CentOS, then
maybe that's the right way forward.
