Amen, especially if you don't "really understand linux" but on the other
hand , since you do seem to understand Ubuntu 10.04, and IF you needs
are not really complicated...you can take an olde4r machine, run
raabuntu, and use the tryphon stuff to upgrade to something current...

the data bases don't talk well between versions, if you go that way,
ubuntu & Raabuntu...you HAVE to stay that way...or go thru a lot of pain
to switch...but since  you already know the command structure, and how
umbutu works, it's not necessary  a bad direction to go

again depends on your comfort level, how much outside help you need, and
how often you need to upgrade...The versions are similar, but not exact.
