Moving on....

I found I had to modify /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf to enable the usb and
disable the onboard audio. I didn't realize just how noisy the on-board audio
was until I listened to the usb output.

Now I still haven't been able to get this to import mp3 files but it will
import waves.

Also, the countdown pie does not change. It is always green. Not a big issue
but that would be handy. The clocks countdown no problem.

Baby steps.

I've gotten to the point that Rivendell will run and most operates properly.
However, two things...

1.       When accessing Menu>Rivendell>Configuration>RDAlsaConfig a desktop
error message comes up stating Invalid desktop entry file
'/usr/local/share/applications/Rivendell-rdalsaconfig-root.desktop. I'm
thinking it is a permissions problem but not sure.

2. Cannot set up an external USB audio box. When I do start the above
rdalsaconfig as root, I can see the usb box and enable it. It then appears in
the asound.conf file but not in the RDAdmin host setup file.

Any clues? Thanks
