I agree that R128 integration would be a welcome option in RD.
Having consistent 'loudness' based level normalisation for playout (as opposed to peak level normalisation) *greatly* assists maintaining an ideal audio mix of overlapping transitions on air (post audio processing), such as automated Voice Tracks playing over song intro's and outro's.
It also provides a more consistent loudness listening experience for operators listening to an unprocessed studio feed. The modern practice of dense limiting and clipping in the music mastering progress is producing insanely loud & smashed tracks today compared to 70's/80's material. Broadcasters best tools to help address this issue efficiently include R128 normalisation during automation ingestion, and optionally a Declipper typically inserted as the first step in the on air chain audio processing.
