I have never been able to get "RN echo > <somefile.txt>" to work
reliably in our version of 2.10.3. After a reboot, it works for a few
hours, then just quits, never to update the file again until another
reboot. Restarting the RD daemons does not resolve the problem; it
takes an OS reboot, which has led me to believe it is probably a problem
with the OS and not necessarily RD. We're currently running Linux Mint
17 without any .x'es. Lots of other problems with that OS--I do not
recommend it, but it will be after the holidays before we upgrade.
