 You can change that.
 I do it by editing
 /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/enpsx-cfg ( whatever they call your
 ethX port these days )
 Change the line that says
 ON_BOOT=no
 to ON_BOOT=yes
 Something like that. It's pretty obvious once you get into the file.

 So is that dumb-ass selinux policy enforcing.
 permissive is a much, MUCH better choice.
 I **always** change it almost immediately.

 Between the two of those the system can stop you
 cold trying to install anything at all.
