Chuck,
is cj a member of the rivendell group?
If you chown cj:cj /var/snd/113000_002.wav does it work?
How are you replacing the audio in 001?
I had a few files which had one channel recorded low.
copied the audio to a temp folder applied sox and copied the adjusted
audio back
the owner of the tracks is root because that's who ran sox and they work OK
group is rivendell and permissions are
If the original un modified audio in 002 won't run
time to run rddbcheck
enjoy the vacation

They're not.
Cart 001:
-rw-r--r-- 1 cj cj 35361116 Mar 7 20:05 /var/snd/113000_001.wav
Cart 002:
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cj rivendell 34862900 Mar 2 2015 /var/snd/113000_002.wav
Cart 001 is the original file modified in Audacity, then exported as a
WAV file back to /var/snd.
Cart 002 is the copy and paste of Cart 001 BEFORE the Audacity meddling.
"cj" is the user Rivendell runs under.
What's strange is that Cart 002 is the one RD refuses to recognize as
containing audio. It's now apparent that the Audacity export touches
one of the groups in Cart 001, however that is not the cart that has the
problem.
I am on vacation for 2 weeks starting already and will be away from
Internet during a large part of it, but would like to get back to this
when I return.
Regardless of those permissions, I think Cowboy is right that something
has changed. I found out today that I can no longer print to my printer
from any application, and that is a new problem, too. I fear the
underlying Linux Mint OS is broken. Mint is not a reliable OS IMO.
Their repository for Evolution is a version from 2011, to give an idea
of where it stands overall. Their version of Firefox is also way behind
the developers' stable release. Guess I need to advance the intended
July upgrade from the Debian version to the appliance as soon as I get
back. And although it has been wonderful to have Rivendell on my
personal notebook, as I can just plug in headphones and do the
production and library work on it anywhere, it is probably a better idea
to separate the 2 now.
Thanks for the help! Back in 2 weeks.
