That's a deal-breaker for me. JACK adds a whole dimension of complexity that I wouldn't want an operations person to have to deal with. Multiple sound cards are equally confusing.

My preferred solution is to have another machine on the network dedicated to receiving Internet streams, wire that machine's output to an audio switch, and use Rivendell to switch put it on the air at the appropriate time. If something fails, the operations guy can press a couple of buttons and get it on the air.
