Hi all,
I've recently used the following guide to install a server and a
number of clients on a CentOS 6.9 Minimal Desktop installation:
http://static.paravelsystems.com/rivendell-install/rivendell-install-rhel6.html
After struggling to get machines working using the appliance DVD, the
above approach is working really well, and we are now working towards
finally upgrading to 2.18.2 from 1.7.1 (thank you to RRAbuntu for many
years of faithful service!)
My questions are these however:
After following the above guide, how will our new installations handle
updates as-and-when they are released by Paravel?
a) will the machines automatically upgrade to new versions of
Rivendell?b) if so, how do we stop them from doing so?c) how do we
allow/approve an update when we're ready?
Is the last step of removing 'rivendell-install' the key to this, or
is there something else to be aware of?
Additionally, what's the recommended best practice for CentOS itself,
do we remove update sources, or leave them intact but just avoid
running 'yum update' ?
Many thanks to everyone involved in the project, as ever! Any
suggestions would be welcomed.
Kind regards,Tom DawsonFANTASY RADIODevizes, Wiltshire,
