We do remote voice tracking by doing the following: 1) Establish a VPN from remote locations to main Rivendell server location.
2) Remote Rivendell configurations use SQL server over VPN on main Rivendell server. 3) Remote Rivendell configurations use their own local copy of /var/snd. 4) Remote and main Rivendell server keep /var/snd in sync using “rsync” scripts over VPN. The way Rivendell does SQL queries is not very efficient, so other than mild delays while RdLogEdit talks SQL over the VPN, the system works quite well.
