I am testing the Rivendell 3.0 beta packages for Ubuntu 18.04 by Florent.  See this message here to how to install them:

http://caspian.paravelsystems.com/pipermail/rivendell-dev/2019-February/027605.html

These packages are great help.  My comment on the daemons running as root were mostly feedback to Florent because I think it would be better to make the packages run Rivendell daemons as non-root.  I can do this manually but I think it would save people a lot problems and work if one could install the packages and be ready to go.

Greetings,

I assume you are testing on centos.
I was trying to compile in Ubuntu however running up against it being hard to get qt4 installed satisfactory. Qt4 is no longer supported in any recent Debian based distro as they have all moved on to qt5. I can't find a download of Qt4 source even on the qt website.
What I do find is 4.4 and 3.0 is asking for 4.6 or better. Can't find it.

My question is why build 3.0 on a qt platform that is quickly becoming deprecated.

I am testing the Ubuntu Rivendell 3.0.0beta00.  So far everything
    looks
real nice.  The problem I am having is that the Rivendell daemons are
running as root.  This is a problem if you want to use a jack server.
Jack would have to run as root and then all other clients as
    well.  This
is not really workable.  It would be better if the Rivendell
    daemons ran
    under the user.
