1) Has anyone been successful using a PCIe bus to PCI adapter with an ASI 65xx series audio card? The ASI 6520 card is PCI and the motherboard only has PCIe slots.

I didn't know such a tting existed. How does it physically fit in the available space ona typical PC?

I bought an ASI5810 card for one of my clients, but can't get it to work under CentOS 7. It does work under Windows, so I know there's nothing wrong with the card.

I've a feeling it would work if I compiled Rivendell and the ASI HPI driver from source, but that's not an option for this client. If it won't work with the standard Paravel CentOS 7 install, he doesn't want to use it.

2) Is there a way from a terminal to see if the system is seeing an ASI card? It doesn't show up as an audio interface in Rivendell but that could be hardware not there or drivers not installed.

I get a message early in the boot process to the effect that the card isn't being detected. I can't remember the wording, alas, and it flashes by pretty quickly.

3) Does the Paravel Broadcast Appliance have the HPI drivers already installed as part of the package or do they have to be loaded separately?

The driver is installed with Rivendell, but it's a version that ASI claims is not compatible with the latest cards. If yours is a PCI card, though, it's probably old enough that this shouldn't be a problem.

Lately, I am finding ASI cards to be a major pain in the butt. There are some older cards that aren't supported by newer drivers, and some drivers require a minimum Linux kernel version that rules out CentOS 6, which is what I have to run on one particular system because it has a piece of hardware that more recent OS versions don't support. I am starting to wonder if ASI is more trouble than it's worth.

A couple of questions.
