Hi Fred, all,

The 18i20 is a rack-mount unit and has a built-in AC supply which is required for operation... it won't run just from USB. Manual specs +15.5dBu which is just under +20dBm.

All I know is that we had tried a usb-powered card in the past from Behringer and the Scarlett definitely blows it away.

Regarding the issue mentioned with the card needing a power cycle on reboot, I can't say that we've experienced that at all?

Regarding X32, we actually do that setup in our production studio and successfully route Rivendell to our X32 as well through the X-USB interface card... Works great!

Curious: how much headroom do you get with those? This has been the big
downside of most USB audio devices I've tested, including those with
balanced I/O: they max out at around 0 dBm. This is largely due to the
limitations of the USB power connection (+5 vdc @ 100 mA max), whereas
a true 'pro' balanced output requires a bipolar +/-15 vdc power supply
to achieve the accustomed headroom of around +20 dBm.

Cheers!
