Greetings:

I am wanting to upgrade from one stand-alone machine to another and using
the old for a backup machine. I'm also wanting to migrate the music
library, Groups, Grids, Clocks, Hosts, etc. to the new machine. So, after
some digging around on the forum, I'm thinking I need to:

1. Backup Database as explained in another post here:

http://caspian.paravelsystems.com/pipermail/rivendell-dev/2018-September/027135.html

2. Copy all the files from /var/snd on the old machine to /var/snd on the
new machine. I currently use

rsync -a -v /var/snd/ /[Destination Drive Path]/

to back up to an external hard drive, so I'm supposing I'd just do the same
thing in reverse from the external drive to the new machine.

3. Something else???

Also, I'm not sure whether some things I've already done are
wrong/unconventional, so I want to make mention of them in case it affects
your response.

1. We play seasonal/Christmas music each year. Immediately after
Thanksgiving, we play a mix of our normal music list with Christmas music.
Closer to Chirstmas we go to all Christmas music, and then back to all
normal after the holidays. So to avoid the onerous task of changing all 168
clocks in a weekly grid multiple times a year I created new Hosts on the
old machine (ex: Christmas Lite, All Christmas) to provide new grids that I
could set up just once and use when needed.

2. After reading some other posts I'm wondering whether I've already made
a mistake in naming the host on the new machine. The old machine's host
name is rivendell02 (it was once a backup machine that went into service
after the primary died). The new one I called rivendell01.

My only experience with Linux has been in working on dedicated Rivendell
machines. When needing to know how do something outside of Rivendell and
the GUI I will generally Google, "how to [do Windows equivalent] on
CentOS", which... often works. ;-) So, don't be afraid of "talking down"
to me or anything. That's what I need. I've been involved in some Linux
disasters in past and am hoping to avoid any such in future, hence the
question.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.
