I have a dream of there being a special ap or program which we converted
Windows/DJs could use to automagically repair anything wrong with the
Rivendell Appliance 3.3 (sorta like Windows repair kit) - not the settings
(although that would be a sweet dream) but things like glitches in the
RDAirplay that cause it to hiccup, and things in the database that suddenly
aren't in the right syntax to restore the data so the backup you made
yesterday cannot be used.
Granted, such a wonderful ap was needed because I had a bad ram stick
and when I replaced it with good memory stuff that had been working wasn't
- like the power supply - so I yanked the hard drive and put it into a
freshly refitted machine - same model but 4x the ram (now 8 gigs) and a
known good power supply. I thought to myself "Linux is not tied to the
motherboard like Windows" because I thought I read that somewhere.
Whatever the reason - before that new car smell had worn off the RD 3.3, I
had not only dinged it, it was a rambling wreck. And the more I tried to
role back the damage the more I realized I had a sardine can lid strategy -
it just wouldn't go back. I am just glad that social distancing means no
one was close enough to hear my finely expressed opinions...
Yes, I have a dream that a magic wand will go twang and I shall suddenly
be in a fine pumpkin coach instead of this pickle. Fred or Cowby, you got
any?
