Well, you can blame me for spec'ing your RFE this peculiar way. IIRC, I think that there was an inclination to be conservative in diverging from the general syntax of JAR Manifest files, which require their "Manifest-Version:" to be on the first line (but they do not support comments, of course). -- Peter
