I understand your fears. I will sit on my hands while the discussion is
underway. Some thoughts:
* We can always backport fixes into older versions.
* We don't have the resources a company like Sun had.
* We don't have much to lose.
* We can't verify compatibility.
My personal view is that we have to scale down on our ambitions.
We are not going to create a communication universe where every machine
talks jini to every other machine. This was a goal Sun had. They did not
succeed. Are we going to?
I'll be happy if we end up with a well thought out decision that can be
documented on the web site and communicated to users next week.
I would also be happy when we manage that in such a short time.
