Hi George,

I'm not involved in development of Rivet, but anyway, I have an opinion
regarding github. I don't like their workflow. You're forced to fork a project
in order to be able to contribute. Bitbucket had/has more workflow options for
git. Apache's own info as referred to by Massimo constitutes a fine
introductory text, also regarding mixed OS development.

Dear Massimo,

The advantages for me, even for a read-only mirror are:

1) It can be placed in github. This will add some small visibility. It is just
another place that can direct to apache rivet through >its readme.md file.
2) Perhaps it would be easier for some to monitor, fork, do some fixes and
generate a pull request. (perhaps :-))

I would like also a bug tracking feature, but I see none of the mirrored projects having
the "Issues" tab.

Yes, we are a tiny project compared to other Apache projects, but I think we
should try... :-)

I don't see any real advantage in a read-only git mirror. Am I missing something? In case we should
head to https://git-wip->>us.apache.org/ which hosts primary repositories of many projects. Yes I
knew about the git mirroring but I remember that, per bylaws >>prescriptions, some features are

Oggetto: Mirroring rivet svn to git/github...
Hi all,

I see that many projects have a read-only git mirror. These projects arelisted
here:

http://git.apache.org/ >>
        >>Git at Apache
git.apache.org
This is a collection of read-only Git mirrors of Apache codebases. The mirrors are
>>automatically updated and contain full version histories (including branches and
>>tags) from the respective source trees in the official Subversion repository at
>>Apache.

Rivet is not included, and I think that creating such a mirror will be agood
idea.

What do you think?

George
