No, I also have a nickname (oehhar). But you may use a nickname without
a registration. The registration is a new feature.
Go on the sign in page:
https://wiki.tcl-lang.org/_login?U=https://wiki.tcl-lang.org/
enter your nick-name, press "I am a human" and press "sign in using
nickname".
Thats how I do it.

My nickname is already registered so I guess I must have filled some
registration form in the past. The problem is that's the nickname I used
with the old wiki that was quite liberal in checking new contributions.

You may do an anonymous login, but you must pass the "Are you human" check..
