That shouldn't happen if RKH was installed and configured well. 
Please run 'rkhunter --debug --cronjob' and add /tmp/rkhunter-debug 
and /etc/rkhunter.conf as a BZIPPED TARBALL (please) to our 
Sourceforge tracker and please list any system, installation or 
configuration details or changes you made you think are relevant.
