Many thanks for this. I remember the problem being reported. The
'jillions' of messages was because the error occurred in the output
mechanism used in 1.2.9. However, this has been replaced in 1.3.0, and
as such the problem basically disappeared. (There are no comparisons of
'-n' or whatever in version 1.3.0.)
