Hi John I posted this at the end of last year, your reply below:
> No biggie, but every run on a couple of our VPS containers I'm getting a > warning 'cos lsmod is returning an empty list. However, this is correct > (if weird) - they are Virtuozzo VMs so who knows... Is there a way to > prevent this check, or allow an empty list as a pass? I've searched both > the switch list and the .cnf, and nothng obvious strikes me. > The 'lsmod' command is only used in the 'loaded_modules' test, so just disable that test (see DISABLE_TESTS in the rkhunter configuration file). I've been playing with this since, but still can't find a solution - disabling 'loaded_modules' doesn't appear to help. My config has the lines ENABLE_TESTS="all" DISABLE_TESTS="suspscan hidden_procs deleted_files packet_cap_apps apps loaded_modules" The daily reports actually have two spurious warnings I'm trying to nail (the lsmod one is second, so possibly is connected in some way by the first?) : Warning: Checking for prerequisites [ Warning ] Unable to find 'file' command - all script replacement checks will be skipped. Warning: No output found from the lsmod command or the /proc/modules file: /proc/modules output: lsmod output: The 'file' error is weird - - the 'file' command is installed and works fine, so possibly it isn't being found in the expected place? Mine looks to be in /usr/bin/file; it is world-readable and -executable. Any help would be gratefully received!
