I suspect you are running an RPM-based O/S as I think this check only
appears for the RPM command. Unfortunately it does say not what the link
has changed to or from, just that it has changed.

What happens if you run something like 'rpm -V perl' or 'rpm
-Vf /usr/bin/perl'? What does /usr/bin/perl actually point to?
