yes, that's probably the cause. I've committed a fix to SVN, to make sure this directory will be created if needed. For the time being, either: 1) create the directory ~/.rkward/package_archive or 2) Turn off Settings->Configure RKWard->R-Packages->Archive downloaded packages Thanks, Peppe, for reporting, and thanks, Matthieu, for suggesting the correct cause.
