hi, i'm currently trying to implement automatic debian package creation as an additional feature of roxyPackage[*]. more importantly, there's already services like cran2deb or c2d4u (for ubuntu): o http://debian.cran.r-project.org (currently down?) o https://launchpad.net/~marutter/+archive/c2d4u
these services provide debian packages for most of the R packages available from CRAN. i think it would be great if RKWard was able to prefer available debian packages over R source packages, when it's running on a debian based system. this would spare me the manual checks i'm doing from time to time (i prefer to leave as much as possible to the debian package management). not sure if this could be implemented as a plugin, or if it would make more sense to first come up with an R package for this (with an extended install.packages() that also checks debian package archives?). i'm just throwing this in here, maybe you have some comments ;-) viele grüße :: m.eik [*]: it actually works already, it's just not tested very much: o http://reaktanz.de/?c=hacking&s=roxyPackage -- dipl. psych. meik michalke institut f"ur experimentelle psychologie abt. f"ur diagnostik und differentielle psychologie heinrich-heine-universit"at d-40204 d"usseldorf
