Okay, tried it a different way: I made a "/" and a swap partition in
Partition Magic, then started the R/L installation. Got to the "where to
put Linux" section, and pointed it to the created partitions. Everything
seemed fine, played my game of Mahjong (almost finished it)... and got
the same thing when it loaded back up:

"Starting Lizard.................FAIL"

I hit alt-F1, and dropped the graphics, (last time I got a login prompt,
but it didn't recognize the username & password I had entered). Hit
alt-F3 (debug?), hoping for a prompt, and got the following:

QT: Locales not supported on x server

cannot add null widget to Q Box Layout/unnamed

q.ComboBox:: Set current item: (unnamed) Index 3 out of range

q string_to_xtp result code -2

checking that no one is using this disk right now...

OK

Warning: partition 1 does not start at a cylinder boundry

If you created or changed a DOS partition, /dev/foo7, say, then use
dd(1) to zero the first 512 bytes: dd if=1 dev/zero of =/dev/foo7 bs=512
count=1 (see fdisk (8).)

q string_to_xtp result code -2

Q Layout "unnamed" added to L Partition info "unnamed", which already
had a layout.
