How do you resolve dependencies of RPM packages at the file level?

I'm trying to install "kmago", a downloader for KDE, and it wants
"libmng.so.0" specifically. Do you have to extract that file and copy
it to somewhere?
If I install a whole package containing that file then it could break
other package's dependencies.

2) I've also been trying to install Sylpheed. It requires "libc.so.6"
from the glibc-2.2.3 package. Updating glibc could cause major
disruptions. Without it I can't install gtk+ 1.2.10 which is also
needed, as well as libgdk-pixbuf.so.2.

How do deal with this kind of thing in general?

While on the subject, can you use apt-get from Lycoris?
That was nice for installations.

Thanks,

Marcus
