What driver are you using?  You should be printing using Cups (as listed on 
the lower right of the printer config screen).  'lp' is the default name 
Linux gives to printers...you can change that.  Go to the KDE Control Center 
> Printers and other hardware.....select the printer icon and it will reveal 
the details....I have an HP Deskjet 810 and it prints ok.
