Definition of: Pick System
A multiuser operating environment and database management system (DBMS)
from Raining Data Corporation, Irvine, CA (www.rainingdata.com)_ that
runs on x86_, PowerPC and Unix platforms. It has been highly praised for
its ease of use, flexibility and advanced features. The DBMS portion of
the Pick System is widely used in third-party products. R83 is the
original Pick System. R93 and Advanced Pick are later versions. D3 is
the DBMS, and D3 Pro Plus is a Linux/DBMS package.
The Pick System was originally developed by Richard Pick, who created a
system for the U.S. Army while working at TRW Corporation. He later
transformed it into the Reality operating system for Microdata and then

Am un hdd (WD Caviar 853.6MB) pe care a fost instalata o aplicatie
destul de ciudata (nu stiu daca PICK O/S mai spune ceva cuiva). Ideea
e ca as vrea sa incerc o clonare a hardului, care inca functioneaza in
ciuda varstei onorabile, dar care poate sa crape oricand.
Ce am incercat (bootat cu knoppix):
- fdisk /dev/hdb:

- file -s /dev/hdb

- cd /media ; mount hdb4 (ca a creat knoppix fstab: /dev/hdb4

mount: you must specify the filesystem type
- mount -t efs /dev/hdb4 /media/hdb4
mount: wrong fs type blabla
- am facut o imagine cu dd if=/dev/hdb , dar nu stiu cum o sa se
comporte cand o scriu pe alt hdd (s-ar putea ca vmware sa fie o solutie)
Incearca!
Aveti vre-o idee despre ce-as mai putea sa fac cu filesystemul ala?
Studiaza-l un pic pentru stiinta ta daca ai timp.Nu inseamna ca fiind pe
tarlaua compatibilelor IBM PC si (majoritatea!) de la vladica pana la
opinca in grija celor de la Mocosoft,nu poti gasi SPARC sau alte
minuni,dupa care te uiti numai pe net,si pe plaiuri uitate de
Dumnezeu.Dar asta deja e alta poveste.
