AIX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR (Tier 3)
Job Description The candidate must have superior skills in IBM AIX administration and proficiency in UNIX system administration in general. Candidate shall show 5-10 years of experience supporting AIX systems. The candidate is expected to have 1-2 years experience with HACMP versions 5.2 and greater are prefered. An understanding of GPFS is a big plus. The candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of Tivoli Storage Manager and other IBM backup tools such as NIM, Sysback, mksysb, and savevg experience with other backup technologies such as OmniBack or NetBackup is a plus. The candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of the Korn shell scripting language and be able to write, troubleshoot, and support complicated scripts. Understanding of other shell programming languages and Perl are a plus. Experience with IBM's Power5 servers is a must. Experience with Dynamic LPAR and/or micro-partioning is also desired. The candidate should be able to monitor, trouble shoot, support and fix operating system and hardware problems on several versions of AIX systems. Knowledge in supporting various storage frames (EX: EMC, Clarion,SYMM, IBM Shark) is desired. Understanding of SAN management products (EX: EMC PowerPath, BCV's, FlashCopy) is essential. The candidate will aid in the installation or consolidation of applications, developing system administration scripts, planning version release upgrades and patches, Security administration and supporting the development of processes and policies surrounding server administration. The candidate will also assist in performance tuning of the servers, routine backups of system and applications on the servers and the establishment of system recovery procedures. Documentation of standards, policies and system information is an integral part of the job. The candidate must be an outstanding team member, should be unafraid to assume ownership and be willing to exchange knowledge with the rest of the team. Must be a self-starter, be able to work independently, with little or no, supervision and capable of mentoring junior associates. The candidate must be willing to assist other teams when needed.
