lasind la o parte faptul ca asta e o intrebare nu pentru lug, ci mai
degraba sug :-)

After speaking with a couple of different engineers, I was told that this
problem cropped up once in a while on "older systems" (defined as sun4c
and sun4m, I guess--anything pre-Ultra), but that Sun had been unable to
determine the cause of the problem (or even find a common link between the
cases). The official solution (which worked in our case) is to install the
OS with no networking support. Once the machine is happy booting into the
newly-installed OS, run sys-unconfig. At that time, the networking can
successfully be configured. You may want to give this a shot.

I dug up some email messages I had sent to the client, and excerpted below
are the procedures that the Sun engineers offered.

<snip>
1. Unplug the network cable.
2. Boot off of the CD, and install the operating system with no networking
support.
3. Tell the system NOT to reboot when the install is complete.
4. When the installation finishes, you will be presented with a "#"
prompt.
5. Type "sys-unconfig" and hit enter
6. The system will reboot, then let you set up the networking.
</snip>

This didn't work for us; as I recall, we got the same error. We were then
advised to try the following (I believe this picks up at step 4 above):

<snip>
(1) Get the system to the ok> prompt.
(2) Unplug the network cable.
(3) Type "setenv auto-boot? true" and hit return
(4) Boot the system.
(5) Log in as root
(6) Plug in the network cable then type "sys-unconfig".

The system should now reboot and ask you to set up networking when it
comes back up.
</snip>
