Am lasat din vremuri imemoriale in rc.local urmatoarea chestie:
hdparm -a -A1 -c1 -d1 -m16 -u1 -W1 /dev/hda

Astazi, pentru prima oara, a inceput sa dea asta:
/dev/hda:
 setting 32-bit I/O support flag to 1
 setting multcount to 16
 setting unmaskirq to 1 (on)
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
 HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted <<<<<<<
 setting drive read-lookahead to 1 (on)
 setting drive write-caching to 1 (on)
 multcount    = 16 (on)
 I/O support  =  1 (32-bit)
 unmaskirq    =  1 (on)
 using_dma    =  0 (off)
 readahead    =  8 (on)

Hardul e Quantum (QUANTUM FIREBALLlct10 10, ATA DISK drive), sistemul
RH 7.1 si habar nu am de ce a inceput brusc sa faca asta. Si e greu
fara DMA.

Partitiile arata asa: hda: hda1 hda2 < hda5 > hda3 hda4
                           C:Win       D:     /    swap

(Scuze de mesajul mare.)
