[rlug] serial line is looped back

o linie inchiriata romtelecom ,2 modemuri dial-up la capete (unul la un provider) Red 
Hat 7.1.la stabilirea conexiunii ppp0 mesajul este:Serial line is looped back .Connect 
script failed.Mesajul apare si daca scot cablul telefonic din modem.unde gresesc?
