"A study commissioned by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology
has recommended that software patents, which are legal in the U.S., should
not be allowed in Europe.
The experts warned that a high rate of innovation, interoperability, and
the continued development of the open-source model would be jeopardized if
Europe adopted a rule allowing the widespread patenting of computer
programs, the ministry said in a statement released Thursday"
Asta pe de o parte, pe de alta cred ca vor sa sugereze ca se plateste cam
mult pentru soft de import (din afara EU) si mai bine "tinem cu ai
nostri", "ai nostri" (adica ai lor din EU) fiind Linux, Mandrake, SuSE,
KDE, etc.. Anyway, mie mi se pare o concluzie rationala.

P.S. Asta imi aminteste de un profesor de la Politehnica din Iasi, om la o
varsta respectabila (>= 70) care ne-a lasat masca intr-o zi la Centru cand
a venit si ne-a rugat sa-i instalam ... Linux pe calculatorul lui. Asta
pentru ca fusese in Nemtia cateva luni si invatase acolo sa foloseasca
Emacs pe *nix si era suparat ca in Iasi nu gaseste pe cineva care sa-l
ajute cu Emacs.
