Have you checked your CD-ROM Drive? Sounds like the most common thread
between your otherwise unrelated problems.

Subject: [RLUG] hardware linux repair ?

hello everybody,
I am a new member and this is my first post, Please forgive if the topic
seems to be un-related. Since some of you would be hardware gurus , i have a
question. I pulled the wireless adaptor out of laptop while it was running.
The winblows :) obviously crashed. i tried to install the os again, but
every time the laptop fails to read some files off the cd and they are not
same files every time, it just selects random files and fails to read them.
Then i tried installing redhat on it, btw laptop is sony vaio pcg-fx240 and
redhat8 cannot start the xserver on it. it just terminates abnormally. i
tried installing solaris too :) (umm around 50 times, personal best record)
but laptop again fails to read "some files" now my laptop is without OS :(,
so pls HELP!!!!!! any one who wishes to take this challenge can mail me off
this list on [EMAIL PROTECTED] Once again, thanks for listening my sad
story :( regards jimm
