Have you checked your CD-ROM Drive? Sounds like the most common thread between your otherwise unrelated problems.

The winblows :) obviously crashed. i tried to install the os again, but every time the laptop fails to read some files off the cd and they are not same files every time, it just selects random files and fails to read them.
