I'm not sure how serious they really are about replacing it on the really big iron, though. Inside the virtual machines, sure, but I don't think Linux is really ready to replace their virtual machine management OS or handle all the hardware requirements of some of their more complex systems (new NUMA support notwithstanding). Still, even if they phase out AIX on some of the smaller units, it would simplify datacenter management quite a bit. It's a good business move, but I think they'll still be producing AIX and some of their other OS stuff for quite a few years to come. -- "Of course I'm in shape!
