Personally, I'd recommend upgrading to a new version of linux, whatever the distro. I've heard good things about Mandrake 8 and 9, as well as Red Hat 8, SuSE 8. These are your best bets. Slackware and Debian are both very nice distros, but they aren't near as user friendly to someone even fairly familiar with linux.
##### Wow! This caught me by surprise. I burned my three CD set from a friend's originals which he bought recently. I never even thought to check the Mandrake website. Sur-nuf, the current version is 9.1.
If you decide to upgrade, feel free to ask the list at large. Several of us would be glad to grab and burn an iso for anyone in need.
##### Though old and a bit slow, I have a CD burner on one of my Macintoshes. Thanks for the kind offer.
It seems to me at this point, I should at the very least upgrade to the latest Mandrake. I have RedHat 8 running on another machine and was just playing around with different distros to see if there was one I liked better.
Thanks to Jim & Tim for help and my apologies for bothering the group with this inquiry when I was running such as old version.
