They need the PCs permanently for continuous use throughout the year. So "loaners" won't work for them.
I believe a switching hub may also be in order. I draw the line at stringing cable
Unless one of you loves to do that sort of thing.
As to what kind of accounting software.....
It appears everything is currently being done on spreadsheets. (yuck!)
I know there are several open source accounting products available,
so as long as the software is a proper one for bookkeeping
follows GAAP, has the ability to handle receivables and payables,
generate financial statements, and the usual basic stuff, it would be a massive improvement.
Because of the overall skill level of several of these folks, I believe the "click & drool"
GUI environment is going to be the easiest to teach. (Read KDE or GNOME)
For an office suite, I would suggest OpenOffice Browser - Mozilla Email - Mozilla/Thunderbird
And I believe they have someone with aspirations of becoming a graphic artist, so the Gimp and it's
kin should fill that bill.
Other recommendations?
